Dr. Cotton\u2019s award recognizes excellence in community engagement by UNMC staff and provides exceptional service to students, their colleagues and\/or UNMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Becky Johnson Beller, PhD,<\/strong> successfully defended her dissertation on April 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gisele Tlusty, PhD,<\/strong> successfully defended her dissertation on April 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kacee Child and Jenniepearl Spencer, DNP students at the UNMC College of Nursing<\/strong>, were chosen for a podium presentation out of 17 presenters at the IAE Spotlight on Scholarship for their project &#8220;Incorporating a High-Fidelity Transgender Simulation into Undergraduate Nursing Education.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023-2024 UNMC College of Nursing Creative Writing Awards announced the winners for this year\u2019s contest. Top student award winners were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Emily Tanner, \u201cMarge Dancing in the Rain\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Julia Miller, \u201cYour Secret is Safe with Me\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sierra Bryant, \u201cI Know That Voice\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tayla Goettsche, \u201cHis Cat Named Oreo\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Top alumni award winners were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jan Fuccillo, \u201cA Change of Heart\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candy Lussetto, \u201cNursing Does That\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharon Redding, \u201cSR- Nursing\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A complete list of winners can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/04\/09\/nursings-creative-writing-award-announces-winners\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Windy Alonso, PhD,<\/strong> was selected to serve as an Ambassador for the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR) Ambassador Program. As an ambassador, Dr. Alonso will commit to ongoing contact with and education of congressional members and staff regarding the importance of nursing research and funding for NINR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sarah Jones<\/strong> was selected as the May 2024 Silver U award winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cathy Binstock and Bridget Thoene<\/strong> were selected as the Spring 2024 Daisy Award winners. Nominees included Elizabeth Bockoven, Lynne Buchanan, Krystal Davis, AnneMarie DeVoll-Zabrocki, Megan Dubas, Payton Flowers, Jami Fulwider, Jenna Hesse, Kassidy Horst, Patricia Hotaling, Rachel Kunkle, Lynne Masters, Wendy McKeighan, Jane Miller, Judith Moore, Amy Pinkelman, Sheri Rowland, Roxanne Vandermause, Jayme Weber and Rachel
