{"id":111720,"date":"2024-05-20T01:56:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T06:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=111720"},"modified":"2024-05-15T11:29:14","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T16:29:14","slug":"parking-rates-to-remain-steady","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/05\/20\/parking-rates-to-remain-steady\/","title":{"rendered":"Parking rates to remain steady"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>For the eighth consecutive year, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty, staff and students will not see an across-the-board parking rate increase for the upcoming fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn a time of inflation, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine have taken this into consideration and will not raise parking rates for employees and students,\u201d said&nbsp;Victoria Zajac, director of Auxiliary Services for UNMC.&nbsp;\u201cIn addition to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/livegreennebraska.com\/travelsmart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TravelSmart<\/a>, we provide a variety of parking options that enable individuals to select what works best for their schedules and pocketbooks.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although most will not incur a rate change, one campus lot will increase to create equity with similar lots. Parking Services will communicate directly with those lot permit holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Review the parking options and monthly rates&nbsp;on the <a href=\"https:\/\/info.unmc.edu\/my-information\/parking-information\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNMC Parking Services website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parking fees do not generate revenue and are spent on the construction and maintenance of parking lots and garages, parking office staffing, utilities (water and electricity in parking lots and garages), fuel, signage, elevators, mandatory fire alarm testing, resurfacing, minor repairs and lighting repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to overseeing and maintaining the parking lots and structures, Parking Services provide additional benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Security-patrolled parking lots and structures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conditional parking allows staff who begin their shifts before 5:30 a.m., or end their shift after 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to park closer. \u00a0<ul><li>Conditional parking privileges allow employees to park near the center of the UNMC and Nebraska Medical Center campus at no additional cost to employees who have purchased a valid parking permit. All employees meeting the conditional parking time requirement must submit a completed parking application, signed by their manager, to UNMC Parking Services for processing.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In addition to conditional parking, during extreme weather conditions, such as extreme snow and cold weather, the executive parking committee and parking services may authorize UNMC and Nebraska Medicine staff (even staff without parking permits) to park in any employee stalls in parking structures on campus, regardless of where they are regularly assigned to park. When this occurs, communication will be published in UNMC Today and the NOW. However, parking is not allowed in specialized stalls (ADA, patient, emergency services, reserved) or any patient\/visitor parking lots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/livegreennebraska.com\/travelsmart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TravelSmart program<\/a> and benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The TravelSmart program offers free Metro bus rides with authorized badge that can be used to travel to and from the 42nd &amp; Dewey campus or the Munroe-Meyer Institute for work or school purposes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Option to obtain a free, shared carpool pass.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free indoor\/secure bike parking and access to showers and lockers in the UNMC Annex 22 and the Center for Healthy Living buildings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UNMC and Nebraska Medicine students, faculty and staff are eligible to receive free annual Heartland BCycle bike share memberships through the TravelSmart program, in a limited quantity.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to a free ride home. This 24-hour service can be used to travel home or to a doctor\u2019s office, hospital or dependent\u2019s school\/daycare when unforeseen emergencies occur on the days that program participants use
