From the Office of the President: Latest Presidential Scholar will study pre-health at Nebraska.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Nebraska celebrated another commitment from a top-tier Nebraska student who scored a perfect 36 on the ACT and is enrolling as a Husker thanks to the full-ride President\u2019s Scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy Robson, who was the commencement speaker at his Millard West High School graduation ceremony this past weekend, will begin studying pre-health at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall. His ultimate dream is to become a brain surgeon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy\u2019s ACT score qualified him for the Presidential Scholars Program, a new scholarship announced earlier this year by University of Nebraska Interim President Chris Kabourek and Gov. Jim Pillen that covers the total cost of undergraduate attendance at NU plus a $5,000 annual stipend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy said the scholarship was a difference-maker as he considered competitive offers from other schools like Alabama and Tulsa. With the President\u2019s Scholarship, he\u2019ll be able to avoid debt and stay close to home, following in the footsteps of his parents Jeremy and Kelly, both Husker alums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we created the Presidential Scholars Program, we were thinking of students like Jeremy \u2013 Nebraska\u2019s best and brightest whose talents we need to keep right here at home,\u201d Kabourek said. \u201cJeremy is going to do big things in his future, and I\u2019m thrilled that we are able to give him the opportunity to chase his dreams at Nebraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was an honor to celebrate with the Robsons, and we can\u2019t wait to see Jeremy on campus this fall. Not only that, but we hope his three younger brothers will someday follow him to the University of Nebraska.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Millard West, Jeremy was on the swim team and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was also part of the University of Nebraska Medical Center\u2019s High School Alliance, a competitive program for Omaha-area high school juniors and seniors that cultivates their interest in the health sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will join an inaugural cohort of Presidential Scholars at the University of Nebraska that will number more than a dozen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJeremy is one of Nebraska\u2019s best, brightest and talented young scholars,\u201d UNL Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett said. \u201cWe are so glad that he has decided to join many other top students in staying home and attending the state\u2019s flagship, Big Ten research university.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Presidential Scholars Program provides a full cost-of-attendance scholarship \u2013 tuition, fees, books, housing and all other costs \u2013 plus a $5,000 annual stipend to Nebraska students who score a perfect 36 on the ACT or an equivalent SAT score of 1570 or above. The scholarship may be used for undergraduate study at any University of Nebraska campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of the program is to advance the governor and university\u2019s shared vision to make Nebraska more competitive for its best and brightest students. The university\u2019s goal is to raise the private funds necessary to expand the program to cover Nebraska students who score a 33 or above on the ACT.<\/p>\n
