The campus is invited to the Davis Global Center Aug. 22 for an all-digital poster session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second annual Medical Student Research Showcase, taking place on the first floor of the Davis Global Center (DGC), exclusively will feature e-posters, presented on screens, rather than posterboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is another instance of the medical center\u2019s use of technological advances, including those related to iEXCEL and other innovative educational methods\/curricula, organizers said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E-posters will be available for viewing on screens throughout DGC\u2019s first floor \u2013 see a detailed schedule<\/a>. Research projects will be presented by college of medicine students from noon-1:30 p.m. Students will be available to provide an overview of their research during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC College of Medicine is excited to share student research accomplishments with the larger campus community, said Kari Nelson, PhD, director of undergraduate medical education research, as well as the incoming class of medical students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have specifically chosen to conduct the e-poster session in-person on Aug. 22nd so that our incoming medical students, who are in the middle of orientation week, can meet some of their peers who have conducted research or other scholarly activity,\u201d Dr. Nelson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to ensure that our students know they have the opportunity to do this work during their training. Through this event, incoming medical students can see what is possible and some of the research opportunities that are available.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPerforming research teaches critical skills important for future physicians,\u201d said Howard Fox, MD, PhD, senior associate dean of research and development. \u201cAt UNMC, we are fortunate to have talented students and outstanding mentors carrying out research.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
