Scholarly publishing is an essential component of a faculty career. Yet, for many faculty, writing takes a backburner to clinical care, teaching responsibilities and administrative priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With high demands on faculty\u2019s time and energy, setting aside focused time for writing and publishing can be challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Get Published,” a seven-part workshop series hosted by UNMC Faculty Development, the McGoogan Health Sciences Library and the Interprofessional Academy of Educators, aims to advance faculty\u2019s scholarly productivity throughout the 2024-25 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers in this series will provide best practices for the research and writing process, illuminate creative strategies to publish more, better and faster, and enhance the impact of published work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series began Sept. 12 with a workshop from visiting faculty Gary Beck Dallaghan, PhD, assistant dean for accreditation at Carle Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Beck Dallaghan said, \u201cWriting scholarly work does not come naturally to anyone; it is something we learn. Even if you enjoy writing, incorporating writing time into a full schedule sometimes feels overwhelming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The learning community established from workshops like these provides incredible networking, resources, motivation and accountability or for faculty to accelerate their writing productivity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Get Published” series continues on Oct. 24, with a workshop from McGoogan Health Sciences Library staff about how faculty can accelerate their research and writing processes with support and efficiencies from the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
