The International Virtual Reality Healthcare Association\u2019s Healthcare Demo Tour<\/a> comes to UNMC\u2019s Omaha campus Oct. 10 in conjunction with iEXCEL\u2019s two-day Innovation in Health Professions Education Forum<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free demos, billed as an emerging technology showcase<\/a>, will feature industry leaders in immersive technology presenting their companies\u2019 latest innovations through interactive, hands-on demonstrations. There are 15 booths set to be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty, students, staff and Nebraska Medicine employees are invited from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to take part and offer feedback on ways they might use the technology for teaching or other applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also features a showing of a documentary film<\/a> featuring interviews with multiple iEXCEL and UNMC faculty and staff. \u201cThe Pitch: Patient Safety\u2019s Next Generation\u201d is from the makers of \u201cTo Err Is Human: A Patient Safety Documentary.\u201d The real-life story follows \u201cone young innovator\u2019s journey into the business of medicine,\u201d according to promotional materials. A forum on Oct. 11 is invite-only and will feature discussion on emphasizing human performance and effectiveness, ensuring equitable access to experiential learning and growing the iEXCEL business mission.
