Kaleb Michaud, PhD, professor in the UNMC Division of Rheumatology, is one of two researchers being honored with the Research Leadership Award, part of the Vice Chancellor for Research Office\u2019s annual Research Award ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, which will be held on Nov. 14, at 4 p.m. in the Durham Research Center Auditorium, recognizes the top researchers from all college and institutes across UNMC. (Hamid Band, MD, PhD, of the Eppley Institute, is the 2024 Scientist Laureate, and Corey Hopkins, PharmD, was the other Research Leadership Awardee \u2013 see all UNMC awardees<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Michaud (who recently appeared on “Health Uncensored with Dr. Drew”<\/a>)is being recognized as a prior Distinguished Scientist Award winner who has a longstanding research funding history and serves as a research leader and mentor on campus. He will be honored alongside 12 other members of the UNMC College of Medicine at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe UNMC College of Medicine takes pride in the accomplishments of Dr. Michaud, as well as the other talented researchers recognized by the university,\u201d said Dean Bradley Britigan, MD. \u201cIn addition, these recognitions affirm the strength, creativity and commitment of all our researchers who are paving the way to the next generation of treatments, interventions and scientific knowledge that will impact the health of patients throughout the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC College of Medicine\u2019s research awardees also include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Investigator Awardees<\/strong>: Outstanding UNMC scientists who in the past two years have secured their first funding from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Defense or other national sources. New investigators also must demonstrate scholarly activity such as publishing their research and\/or presenting their findings at national conventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
