UNMC will hold the latest in its Breakthrough Thinking series on Oct. 28 with a presentation by Mary Lou Falcone, an author and advocate for Lewy body dementia awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Falcone will share her personal story to illustrate her journey as a caregiver for her late husband, Nicky Zann, who died from Lewy body dementia in 2020. Her talk is titled \u201cHere\u2019s Looking at You, Lewy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be held Monday, Oct. 28, from noon-1 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2018. The lecture and Q&A also will be available via Zoom; find the link at the UNMC campus event listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Falcone is the author of \u201cI Didn\u2019t See It Coming: Scenes of Love, Loss, and Lewy Body Dementia.\u201d She also is an executive producer of a new documentary film about Lewy body dementia titled \u201cFacing the Wind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on Oct. 28, the UNMC community is invited to a special screening of the documentary at Film Streams\u2019 Ruth Sokolof Theater, 1340 Mike Fahey St. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The documentary is a love story about people with Lewy body dementia, the spouses who care for them and the remarkable community where they find sustenance and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the evening event, Falcone will introduce the film and moderate a panel discussion and Q&A session afterward. Panelists include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
