We want to get news to you faster and to more widely distribute the achievements of our faculty, staff, researchers and trainees. We now have a departmental news webpage where we can share news in real time. Our newsletter will be streamlined and, we hope, easier and more enjoyable to read. Please refer often to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/intmed\/about\/news.html\">Inside IM news webpage<\/a> as it will be frequently updated with the news you send us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fall is also time for the associated activities of finalizing fellowship recruitments and starting the interviews for residency recruitment. I appreciate all the work that goes into these efforts by so many. In this month of November, UNMC will celebrate its annual Research Awards, and we are pleased to have department members Dr. Sara Bares and Dr. Harshraj Leuva recognized as New Investigators and Dr. Kaleb Michaud recognized for Research Leadership. Dr. Nada Fadul just took on new responsibilities as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Medicine\u2014congratulations to her on this important college role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change is always happening. We recently announced that Dr. David Warren of Washington University will be joining our department in January as the new Division Chief for Infectious Diseases. We look forward to welcoming him. Dr. Rupp will continue as division chief until Dr. Warren arrives and will be continuing his faculty role after that as well. I am grateful for the amazing service that Dr. Rupp has provided as the ID chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t already, we invite you to read our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/intmed\/_documents\/about\/imbiennialreport.pdf\">department&#8217;s latest biennial report<\/a>. There are many other noteworthy happenings in this new version of the newsletter. While we hope the changes in the newsletter format make it easier to have more timely access, we (Maria Ball and myself) will appreciate your feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we move towards the American celebration of Thanksgiving this month, I am ever grateful for each of you in the department and all you do to help us meet our patient care, education, research and service
