{"id":116991,"date":"2024-11-08T01:56:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T07:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=116991"},"modified":"2024-11-08T08:41:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T14:41:52","slug":"employee-giving-featured-organization-give-nebraska","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/08\/employee-giving-featured-organization-give-nebraska\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee giving featured organization: Give Nebraska"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>At 3 p.m. today (Nov. 8), the UNMC Employee Giving Committee will draw prize winners for the first week of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week&#8217;s prizes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two tickets to the Nov. 23 Husker football game<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two $25 VISA gift cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A $50 VISA gift card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UNMC swag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>UNMC employees who pledge&nbsp;<strong>a minimum of $20 total<\/strong>&nbsp;will be eligible for the prizes listed above. Information on how to donate is listed below. After pledging, employees are entered in all weekly drawings. Winners will be notified via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 4 p.m. Thursday, UNMC achieved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Donations of $48,353.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee participation of 4%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate, see these instructions for more details on donating. For additional security purposes, a few changes have been made since last year\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>United Way of the Midlands:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/go.unmc.edu\/uwmidlands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>. The link will lead to a UNMC single sign-on page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employees can sign in with their UNMC username and password.&nbsp;These should auto populate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once signed in, the employee will be directed to a personalized giving page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Donate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A \u201cno pledge\u201d option is available for employees who choose not to donate. Employees who are unable to contribute still are encouraged to access the ePledge website and submit a \u201cno donation\u201d response.&nbsp;<strong>A \u201cno donation\u201d response counts toward total employee participation.<\/strong>&nbsp;After an employee has submitted a donation or no donation response, United Way will no longer send additional giving emails to your account this month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Give Nebraska:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.givenebraska.org\/unmc-donate-page.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>. The link will lead to UNMC\u2019s Give Nebraska donation page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register and donate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees can give by credit card on the online giving site, as well as through payroll deduction, cash or check. Campaign pledges, which can be made through UNMC\u2019s payroll deduction, are automatically withdrawn from the last check in December 2024 for biweekly paid employees and January 2025 for employees paid monthly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For questions regarding this year\u2019s campaign, contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:kelsey.scroggin@unmc.edu?subject=2024%20Employee%20Giving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kelsey Scroggin<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This week&#8217;s highlighted organization: Give Nebraska<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is Give Nebraska and how is it different from other giving agencies?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Founded in 1981, Give Nebraska is a federation of nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life in Nebraska. It exists to connect donors to the causes they care about most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With its donor-directed system, Give Nebraska ensures that contributions support member agencies as designated, rather than by predetermined allocation levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGive Nebraska strongly believes in empowering donors to make independent decisions about their philanthropy,\u201d said Melissa Filipi, Give Nebraska executive director. \u201cDonors have the option \u2013 no matter the size of their gift \u2013 to designate their donation dollars to over 70 different statewide agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A list of Give Nebraska supported agencies can be found <a
