{"id":117026,"date":"2024-11-08T01:53:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T07:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=117026"},"modified":"2024-11-07T13:58:49","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T19:58:49","slug":"unmc-project-will-make-blankets-for-youths-in-foster-care-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/08\/unmc-project-will-make-blankets-for-youths-in-foster-care-2\/","title":{"rendered":"UNMC project will make blankets for youths in foster care"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Fostering the Future invites the UNMC community to participate in its annual blanket making project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty, staff and students can help make tie blankets for youth in foster care at an in-person event or pick up materials to make them at home with family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The in-person blanket-making event will be Friday, Nov. 8, from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Williams Science Hall, conference room 2.0.010. Food and drinks will be provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the take-home option, blanket kits can be picked up in Williams Science Hall in the cubicle space across from Room 2.0106 in the UNMC Office of Global Engagement. When inside on the second floor, use the south double doors. Take an immediate right down the hall and then an immediate left. Pickup will start on Friday, Nov. 8, and run through Dec. 2. Blanket kits are available for pickup\/drop-off from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday\u00a0through\u00a0Friday (no weekends\/holidays).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Donations will go to Project Everlast, Project Harmony, Partnership 4 Kids and the Omaha Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1mvukZFbtbNrKB-vv_VX-RAycIhiVJZX3-tkh4bDmLMY\/edit?usp=sharing\">Sign up here to participate in the blanket making project (both the in-person event or the take home option).<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants are urged to sign up only for the number of blankets they anticipate being able to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fostering the Future is a student-led, interprofessional service-learning initiative dedicated to promoting resources and solutions to address the health challenges at-risk youth face in the Omaha metropolitan area.
