{"id":117216,"date":"2024-11-15T01:56:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-15T07:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=117216"},"modified":"2024-11-13T12:50:03","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T18:50:03","slug":"employee-giving-featured-organization-united-way-of-the-midlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/15\/employee-giving-featured-organization-united-way-of-the-midlands\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee giving featured organization: United Way of the Midlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>At 3 p.m. today (Nov. 15), the UNMC Employee Giving Committee will draw prize winners for this week in the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week&#8217;s prizes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A free month of parking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two $25 Visa gift cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A $50 Visa gift card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UNMC swag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees of UNMC who pledge&nbsp;<strong>a minimum of $20 total<\/strong>&nbsp;will be eligible for the prizes listed above. Information on how to donate is listed below. After pledging, employees are entered in all weekly drawings. Winners will be notified via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of this week, UNMC achieved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Donations of $56,305.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee participation of 5%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate, see these instructions for more details on donating. For additional security purposes, a few changes have been made since last year\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>United Way of the Midlands:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/go.unmc.edu\/uwmidlands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>. The link will lead you to a UNMC single sign-on page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employees can sign in with their UNMC username and password.\u00a0These should auto populate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once signed in, the employee will be directed to a personalized giving page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Donate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A \u201cno pledge\u201d option is available for employees who choose not to donate. Employees who are unable to contribute still are encouraged to access the ePledge website and submit a \u201cno donation\u201d response. <strong>A \u201cno donation\u201d response counts toward total employee participation.<\/strong> After an employee has submitted a donation or no donation response, United Way will no longer send additional giving emails to their account this month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Give Nebraska:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.givenebraska.org\/unmc-donate-page.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>. The link will lead you to UNMC\u2019s Give Nebraska donation page.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register and donate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees can give by credit card on the online giving site, as well as through payroll deduction, cash or check. Campaign pledges, which can be made through UNMC\u2019s payroll deduction, are automatically withdrawn from the last check in December 2024 for biweekly paid employees and January 2025 for employees paid monthly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For questions regarding this year\u2019s campaign, contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:kelsey.scroggin@unmc.edu?subject=2024%20Employee%20Giving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kelsey Scroggin<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This week&#8217;s highlighted organization: United Way of the Midlands<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more than 100 years, United Way of the Midlands has raised funds across the community to directly support local needs. Through its ongoing partnerships with corporate and government organizations, nonprofits and individual donors, United Way of the Midlands uses its communitywide perspective to address emerging challenges and create a circle of support to help those who are struggling to get back on their feet and build a brighter future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donations to the United Way help fund more than 150 local nonprofit programs and direct services that have been vetted by experts and community volunteers. Together, these programs and services are addressing social and economic disparities here in our community and meeting families\u2019 essential needs such as healthy food, safe and stable housing, physical and mental health services, career preparation and job training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unitedwaymidlands.org\/community-investments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer
