As part of De-Stress Week, the UNMC Omaha campus will host a donation drive for the Nebraska Medicine pediatric patient unit on Friday, Dec. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UNMC Ice Rink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who provide a new donation valued at $10 or more at the event can receive a fleece ear band featuring UNMC\u2019s mascot, Ellie. Fleece ear bands are available while supplies last, and only donors who offer an item at the event are eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeing a kid in the hospital anytime \u2013 but especially during the holidays \u2013 to put it simply, stinks,\u201d said education services-hospital teacher Lisa Gulseth. \u201cHaving books, games and different activities for our patients to utilize during their stay makes the time go more quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“To help lower the spread of infection across patients, all our books, games and activities are a one-time use. Therefore, we go through items quickly. Our department is grateful to the campus community for providing a drive to help us restock these items for our patients.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
