As part of an effort to ensure security of data and the network, a change to network jacks will continue to take place over the next several months across UNMC facilities. This only affects devices that are plugged into a network jack via a wired connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning Jan. 19, the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, the UNMC Academic and Research Services building, the UNMC College of Nursing facilities in Omaha and the Scott Technology Center are undergoing a \u201cwired segmentation\u201d process. This means that devices that are not UNMC-owned and managed will only be able to get into the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those non-UNMC managed devices will not be able to access any resources on the network, such as shared data in the data centers, network printers, or other systems in the data center or on the network. This does not affect wireless devices as \u201cwireless segmentation\u201d already is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next facilities that will be affected for this change are Shackelford Hall and the Davis Global Center, beginning on Jan. 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
