UNMC faculty, staff and students will have two opportunities to learn more about advocating to elected officials and their offices during two town halls scheduled for this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to research advocacy at a Thursday forum, other topics will include the status of executive orders and their effects on UNMC research. Information and resources on shifting federal policies and executive orders can be found at this UNMC webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt Blomstedt, PhD, associate vice president for government relations for the University of Nebraska System, is the featured presenter at a virtual town hall<\/a> at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. H. Dele Davies, MD, interim chancellor of UNMC, will provide the welcome during the webinar. Chris Kratochvil, MD, vice chancellor for external relations at UNMC, and Jeff Kratz, director of UNMC government relations, also will participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Blomstedt will provide guidance on advocating with lawmakers and their offices, as well as outline NU\u2019s priorities on the state and federal level. UNMC offers\u00a0information and guidelines to help on its government relations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Blomstedt also will participate in a town hall focused on research issues at 3 p.m. Thursday. Ken Bayles, PhD, vice chancellor for research at UNMC, will lead the town hall, which will take place at the Durham Research Center auditorium. A webinar will be available for those who wish to participate online; see the link at this campus event listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
