\u201cDo no harm\u201d is one of the fundamental principles of health care and supported by Nebraska Medicine\u2019s Zero Harm behaviors and tools as a part of its continued journey to becoming a high reliability organization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week is National Patient Safety Awareness Week \u2013 an annual reminder to continue to make safety top priority. Throughout the week, Nebraska Medicine is shining a spotlight on patient safety with in-person and online activities and daily educational content to celebrate and thank everyone for their commitment to safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planned events for the week are open to UNMC faculty, staff and students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free treat<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operational leaders and patient safety team members will be on site on Monday, March 10, from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Durham Outpatient Center’s level two staff entrance, to pass out cookies and thank colleagues for all they do to keep patients safe. Stop by to enjoy a free treat, get to know the Nebraska Medicine patient safety colleagues and learn more about Patient Safety Awareness Week activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hot Mess Express<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hot Mess Express, formerly known as Ms. Mayhem, is back by popular demand. Stop by the Innovation Design Unit, located at University Tower 6, on Tuesday, March 11, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Take a tour of a clinical scene and identify all the safety or compliance errors for a chance to win a prize. Also stop by the table outside the Hot Mess Express to test hand washing skills. Treats will be available while supplies last, as well as a photo booth opportunity and entry for a prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
