{"id":121296,"date":"2025-04-10T01:52:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T06:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=121296"},"modified":"2025-04-09T14:58:46","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T19:58:46","slug":"recycle-e-waste-and-more-april-29-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/04\/10\/recycle-e-waste-and-more-april-29-30\/","title":{"rendered":"Recycle e-waste and more April 29-30"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>The med center\u2019s annual e-waste recycling and document shredding event will be held over two days at the end of April \u2013 Tuesday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday April 30, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be at the UNMC Grounds Building (Annex 23) in Lot 17, 4650 Jones St.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event offers a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of outdated electronics, ensuring that devices are properly recycled and that harmful materials are handled carefully. From old computers and phones to TVs and printers, attendees can drop off anything with a plug, circuit board or that runs on batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides old electronics, many other items will be accepted to be recycled or reused:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Physical media, including, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Single-use and alkaline batteries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any grade of paper and any paper document that someone wants shredded before it is recycled.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gently used eyeglasses. These will be taken to Truhlsen Eye Institute, where they will be reused for patients.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pop tabs. These will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Used bicycles. These will be refurbished through a new partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.communitybikeproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Community Bike Project of Omaha, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Community Bike Project of Omaha<\/a> and donated back to individuals at the med center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food donations. Items will be donated to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksoncollege.edu\/student-life\/campus-services\/student-success\/cupboard-and-closet\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Clarkson College Cupboard and Closet, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clarkson College Cupboard and Closet<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is scheduled during Earth Month, and other events are being held throughout April. with med center sustainability efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy implementing sustainable practices, such as reducing waste and managing disposal responsibly, we inherently improve environmental health
