The Olson Center for Women\u2019s Health will celebrate Women\u2019s Health Week, a special time each year for women to invest in their physical and mental health. This year, three wellness and educational events will be offered. Pre-registration is required for all events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, May 13: “Migraine in Women”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth Hartman, MD, will present Migraine in Women on Tuesday, May 13, at noon via Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Hartman is an associate professor with the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences, as well as the division chief for general neurology and headache medicine. She also is clinic director of the Nebraska Medicine and UNMC Neuroscience Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She will describe the impact that migraines have on women, as well as common symptoms and treatments. \u00a0Register for the webinar here<\/u><\/a> or contact Valeta Creason-Wahl at by email<\/u><\/a> or phone at 402-559-7487.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a free event and open to the community. Nursing credit available at no cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Olson Center for Women\u2019s Health. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team. The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this activity for 1.0 ANCC contact hour. Nurses should only claim credit for the actual time spent participating in the activity. Wednesday, May 14: “Unseen and Overlooked: Recognizing and Responding to Brain Injury in Women\u2019s Health”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brain injury often is invisible and can be caused by falls, car accidents, sports injuries or intimate partner violence. This webinar, presented by Peggy Reisher and Rachel Brandenburg of Brain Injury Association of Nebraska, will explain symptoms of brain injury, tools to screen for brain injury and guidelines to meet the unique health care needs. Join the presentation on Wednesday, May 14, from noon-1 p.m. via Zoom.\u00a0To register, email\u00a0the Olson Center<\/u><\/a>\u00a0or call 402-559-6345.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, May 15: “Wellness Through Doing: Calligraphy 101”\u00a0(space limited)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bailey Hindman, owner of Bailey\u2019s Letters, will provide an in-person introductory class to modern calligraphy using pointed dip pen and ink. The class will cover all the basics to help add unique, lettered details to snail mail, wedding stationary, home decor crafts and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This class will be at held from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Olson Center classroom at a cost of $40 (special event pricing normally $60). This in-person event includes 90 minutes of instruction and demonstration, a beginner\u2019s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, two letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder) and all materials to write on. Attendees can keep everything at the end of the workshop. This class is almost sold out. If it fills up, call 402-559-6345 to join the waiting list.
