At a free, in-person learning session on Tuesday, May 20, Nebraska Medicine surgeons\u00a0Ivy Haskins, MD, and\u00a0Vishal Kothari, MD, will explain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What causes GERD (acid reflux) and swallowing problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to tell if your symptoms need medical attention.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Steps you can take to help reduce symptoms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When medication, surgery or other treatments might be needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Haskins, who is co-director of Nebraska Medicine\u2019s Esophageal Swallowing Center, is an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, MIS and Bariatric Surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Kothari is an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, MIS and Bariatric Surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion, which starts at 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Lauritzen Outpatient Center, 4014 Leavenworth St., in
