We asked Graduate Student Association (GSA) leadership to weigh in on their top five places on campus for grad students to study or relax. Does this list match yours? Let’s take a look at some of the best places on UNMC’s Omaha campus for graduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Maurer Commons is a convenient location with lots of restorative light.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Graduate Student Wellness Hub<\/a><\/strong>, located on the ground floor of Durham Research Center I, is cozy, and friendly. It’s a great spot to meet others and has a host of simple amenities, including foosball. Forget the latest lab struggles for a minute or two by connecting with those who are in the same boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DRC common area<\/strong>, or to use its official name, the Maurer Commons<\/strong>, is the atrium between the two DRC towers. It is conveniently located for grad students and a great place to grab lunch, with food trucks stopping by most days of the week. In “off hours” it’s often a quiet, peaceful space. And even in the winter, its vast glass windows mean light, light, light. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the weather, you may not spend hours at a time here, but just outside DRC<\/strong> is a great spot to soak up some much needed quiet, natural light and fresh air. The views are inspiring, and a few minutes can be just what you need to take a deep breath and find your peace before heading back to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all of the recent renovations the McGoogan Health Sciences Library study rooms<\/strong> are now state-of-the-art while also offering back-to-basics quiet. Great spaces to get some serious work done, or simply recharge. Don’t forget the nap pods!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Starbucks Common area<\/strong>. Ahhhhhhhhh, coffee! What more need be said?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
