Nebraska Medicine is growing in Grand Island, expanding its reach and access to care in the community by relocating to a new facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Groundbreaking for the expanded Grand Island Health Center is expected to take place in July, with construction to take approximately 20 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new health center will occupy level two and level three of a new, three-level 66,000-square-foot medical office building at 3553 Prairieview Street in Prairie Commons, Grand Island\u2019s premier mixed-use development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis project shows the commitment Nebraska Medicine has to both the Grand Island and surrounding communities and to our colleagues who serve those patients,\u201d said Kyle Skiermont, PharmD, senior vice president, Nebraska Medicine Operations. \u201cOur current health center was built in the early 1970s, and after three expansions, it\u2019s not meeting our current or future needs. The new Grand Island Health Center will allow us to welcome new patients, reduce appointment wait times and expand our team and services as we continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Services provided will include internal medicine, rheumatology, vascular surgery, advanced heart failure, cystic fibrosis, nephrology, infectious diseases, lab and X-ray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe look forward to the opportunity to expand our primary care services to the community, while at the same time supporting the education of resident physicians, physician assistants, lab, radiology and nursing students,\u201d said Isaac Berg, MD, medical director, Grand Island Health Center. \u201cThis facility will allow us to grow in ways that will both benefit patient care and strengthen educational opportunities through our established relationship with the University of Nebraska Medical Center. We can\u2019t wait to welcome our patients and learners to a beautiful new home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nebraska Medicine is partnering with Chief Industries on the project. The project will be developed by Frankfort Square Partners, LLC, with Chief Construction serving as the construction manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis new facility marks a significant milestone not just for Prairie Commons, but for the entire Grand Island community,\u201d said Roger Bullington, president of Chief Development. \u201cWe are honored to support Nebraska Medicine\u2019s growth and help bring greater access to care to the people of Central Nebraska.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new building is expected to welcome its first patients in April 2027. Until then, the Grand Island Health Center will continue to operate at its current site, 729 N. Custer Ave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited about the new project at Prairie Commons in general and the re-location of our Grand Island Health Center specifically,” said Harris Frankel, MD, Nebraska Medicine’s chief medical and external affairs officer. “This will provide a contemporary health care environment for our physicians, advanced practice providers, other team members and learners alike, while enhancing access and expanded health care services for patients and families in and around the tri-cities area.
