{"id":122616,"date":"2025-06-18T11:06:18","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T16:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=122616"},"modified":"2025-06-18T13:02:26","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T18:02:26","slug":"gme-research-symposium-attracts-high-quality-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/06\/18\/gme-research-symposium-attracts-high-quality-work\/","title":{"rendered":"GME research symposium attracts high-quality work"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>The Seventh Annual Graduate Medical Education Research Symposium was held on April 29 in the Truhlsen Events Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents and fellows from both UNMC and CHI displayed their research posters and gave oral presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>House officers presented their research in areas such as clinical outcomes, basic science, education, business, health policy and humanities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/unmc\/albums\/72177720326561347\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"See a photo album from the event., opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See a photo album from the event.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were more than 130 research abstracts \u2013 in both oral and poster formats \u2013 presented at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H. Dele Davies, MD, interim chancellor, and Bradley Britigan, MD, dean of the UNMC College of Medicine, provided opening remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandrakanth Are, MBBS, senior associate dean for graduate medical education, said the event \u201cis a wonderful venue for residents and fellows to showcase their valuable research.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstracts presented at the symposium will be included in the Graduate Medical Education Research Journal, Volume 7, Issue 1, set to be published in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the entire GME office, particularly Premila Leiphrakpam, MBBS, GME research and education program manager, for their hard work that contributed to the success of the event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Are also noted the contributions of GME office members Erin Snow, Amy Guziec, Arianne Marcoux and Rachel Nelsen, as well as Candace Peteler, campus events center coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey were instrumental in organizing the symposium,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awards were given to the best abstracts in the oral and poster categories.
