As part of a major grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) awarded to the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska in 2022, the Midwest Clinical Instruction Regional Network (MCIRN) team has launched the MCIRN Advanced Preceptor Fellowship, an innovative, interactive online training program designed for preceptors. The first cohort launched May 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fellowship builds on the core preceptor concepts introduced in the \u201cMCIRN Process Precept Need-to-Know Skills Updates\u201d live training course, which has already been completed by 287 Nebraska nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fellowship advances these foundational skills and concepts further through application of real-life scenarios illustrated through interactive videos and expert insights focused on coaching, teaching, mentoring and facilitation when working with preceptees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fellowship engages learners with videos using actors who illustrate common situations that preceptors encounter when working with preceptees. Each scenario is paired with evidence-based content and expert review to deepen learning and application. At the conclusion of each topic or scenario, content aligns with the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) preceptor competencies and preceptor roles outlined in the Ulrich Precepting Model, ensuring a comprehensive and confidence-building learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
