As a result, traffic along Saddle Creek Road, which currently has one lane open in each direction, may become more congested. Work on Saddle Creek Road is expected to wrap up in late July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Motorists also will see the following changes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On July 7, 42<sup>nd<\/sup> Street will be open from Dewey Avenue to Dodge Street.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On July 7, 42nd Street from Emile Street to Dewey Avenue will close until May 2026 for utilities, streetscape and pedestrian safety projects. The project, in part, will remove the island at the pedestrian crosswalk at 42nd Street near the entrance to Wittson Hall to create a shorter crossing distance and eliminate the line-of-site issues caused by drop-offs at this location. It also will install a raised pedestrian platform to increase visibility and narrow traffic lanes to help slow traffic through the area. Sidewalks also will be widened to increase pedestrian safety.&nbsp;During the project, the sidewalk west of 42<sup>nd<\/sup> Street will close; the east sidewalk will remain open. Pedestrians will be encouraged to cross the street via the 42<sup>nd<\/sup> Street skywalk or at the corners of both Dewey Avenue and Emile Street.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Beginning this fall, Emile Street east of 42<sup>nd<\/sup> Street will be one-lane eastbound to allow for utility work as part of the streetscape project. This work is expected to run from approximately September to November.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A number of projects are upcoming that will affect
