{"id":124020,"date":"2025-07-25T01:58:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-25T06:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=124020"},"modified":"2025-07-24T10:48:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T15:48:18","slug":"dr-langenfeld-appointed-residency-program-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/07\/25\/dr-langenfeld-appointed-residency-program-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Langenfeld appointed residency program director"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>The UNMC Department of Emergency Medicine has announced the appointment of Jason Langenfeld, MD, as the new residency program director for the\u00a0emergency medicine residency program at UNMC.\u00a0Dr. Langenfeld, an associate professor in the department, brings experience and a strong commitment to medical education and clinical excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He succeeds Chad Branecki, MD, who previously led the programn and is credited with shaping its growth and academic rigor. He will continue to play a role in departmental leadership as the vice chair for education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Langenfeld completed his residency in emergency medicine at Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and has been a key figure at UNMC since joining the faculty. Prior to this appointment, he served as the associate residency program director and director of simulation, championing hands-on training and innovative educational practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognized for his dedication to teaching and mentorship, Dr. Langenfeld has received several accolades, including the National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his new role, he is aiming to further elevate the program\u2019s educational mission, foster a supportive learning environment and prepare residents to meet the evolving challenges of emergency medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Wadman, MD, professor and Robert L. Muelleman, MD, Distinguished Chair of Emergency Medicine, said of the appointment, \u201cDr. Langenfeld is well-prepared for the role, having successfully served as associate program director for many years.\u00a0He is a recognized education leader in our department, the institution and on the national level, with expertise in simulations.\u00a0The program is in good hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We really appreciate Dr. Branecki and his contributions to the program over the years from being one of our first residents to his exemplary tenure as program
