The next Idea Pub: Morning Edition, sponsored by UNeMed, will be held on Thursday, July 31, from 9-11 a.m. in the Catalyst building\u2019s Forge Event Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will feature award-winning scientists from the University of Nebraska at Omaha working on ground-breaking innovations related to wearable technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Song-young Park, PhD, an associate professor of health and kinesiology, and Cody Anderson will discuss their algorithms for wearable blood pressure monitoring devices, which was named UNeMed\u2019s Most Promising New Invention at the 2022 Innovation Awards. Anderson is a doctoral research assistant in Dr. Park\u2019s Vascular and Metabolic Phenotyping Research Lab in UNO\u2019s School of Health and Kinesiology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Kingtston, PhD, director of UNO\u2019s Movement Analysis Core, and Brian Knarr, PhD, Director of UNO\u2019s Machining and Prototyping Core, also will give remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Knarr is a two-time Most Promising Invention recipient and was part of the department-wide Innovator of the Year Award presented to UNO biomechanics in 2018. He was among three inventors on the self-pacing treadmill for the Most Promising New Invention of 2022, and was part of a six-member team on 2024\u2019s Most Promising New Invention, the Ruggedized Beam Helmet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Idea Pub: Morning Edition will be held in Catalyst Omaha west of Saddle Creek Road. Free coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Catalyst, a co-sponsor of the event, will offer facility tours on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metered parking is available along 46th Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNeMed, the technology transfer and commercialization office for UNMC and UNO, holds Morning Edition events to help university innovators and entrepreneurs connect and collaborate with colleagues and experts from the venture capital and startup communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morning Edition also regularly features office hours with UNeMed staff and Charlie Cuddy, who co-founded the Nebraska Startup Academy and MOVE Venture Capital, offering an opportunity to discuss new technologies or startup potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
