Parking deck for students opens<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

A new, two-level parking deck will open today (Aug. 1) on the east side of UNMC\u2019s Omaha campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 144-stall parking deck will be a designated student lot (Lot No. 14S) and available to students with valid parking permits. Upper-level access will be from Dewey Avenue; lower-level access will be via Jones Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parking deck is located directly south of UNMC\u2019s new residence facility, which is expected to open in fall 2026. Until then, the lot will be accessible to all UNMC students in Omaha and will help ease parking congestion on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNMC joins Santee Health Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Representatives from around UNMC and Nebraska Medicine participated in the 15th<\/sup> annual Santee Health Fair in Niobrara, Nebraska, on June 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants included the UNMC Indigenous and Rural Health Program, Truhlsen Eye Institute, the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, UNMC Department of Pediatrics, UNMC College of Dentistry, McGoogan Health Sciences Library and UNMC College of Public Health Department of Environmental, Agricultural and Occupational Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit was made possible by an invitation from Lisa Spellman, UNMC tribal community liaison with the UNMC Indigenous and Rural Health Program, who also actively participated in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program supports both tribal and urban American Indian and Alaska Native communities in the region and works to build culturally grounded collaborations with partners at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine that align with indigenous knowledge, practices and approaches to health and wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC Office of Campus Engagement served up connection at the Morning Grounds Coffee Pop-Up on July 16 at the Wigton Heritage Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In partnership with Sodexo, UNMC Campus Engagement welcomed 75 attendees with complimentary drink tickets. Guests were treated to a small or medium coffee or tea prepared by baristas Berenice Ruiz and Shallan Lechner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees engaged in a series of interactive stations that included beverage polls, a trivia challenge and a gratitude grab jar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also helped kick-off August\u2019s Sip, Smile, Succeed Hydration Challenge<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional Morning Grounds Coffee Pop-Ups are planned for November and December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
