{"id":124432,"date":"2025-08-07T01:56:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T06:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=124432"},"modified":"2025-08-06T14:35:34","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T19:35:34","slug":"changes-are-coming-to-how-phishing-emails-are-handled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/08\/07\/changes-are-coming-to-how-phishing-emails-are-handled\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes are coming to how phishing emails are handled\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Changes are coming to how reported phishing emails are handled for Nebraska Medicine and UNMC.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, a new email security solution was purchased, and a new \u201cPhish Alert\u201d button to report phishing messages was pushed out to everyone\u2019s Outlook.\u202fCurrently, when a phishing message is submitted using the \u201cPhish Alert\u201d button, no reply is sent back to the colleague, unless it was a phishing simulation.\u202f&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting in a few days, to improve the user experience, an emailed response will be sent back to the colleague with information on whether the reported email was found to be safe, spam or malicious.\u202f&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The emails will look somewhat like this (with differences based on if the email is benign, spam or malicious):&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Phishing080625.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-124431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Phishing080625.png 624w, https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Phishing080625-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What do users need to do?<\/strong><br>Keep reporting phishing messages.
