The campus is invited to the Davis Global Center Friday, Aug. 22, for an all-digital poster session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third annual Medical Student Research Showcase will take place on the first floor of the Davis Global Center, exclusively featuring e-posters presented on screens, rather than posterboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees can check out the array of research projects from UNMC College of Medicine students from 8:45-10:30 a.m., dropping in according to their availability. Students will be available to provide an overview of their research during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research includes such topics as maternal malnutrition in birthing outcomes, asthma screening among children at a homeless shelter and a medical workup for Typhoid fever. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s another instance of the medical center\u2019s use of technological advances, including those related to iEXCEL and other innovative educational methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC College of Medicine is excited to share student research accomplishments with the larger campus community. But another crucial audience is the incoming class of medical students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have specifically chosen to conduct the e-poster session in-person on Aug. 22 so that our incoming medical students, who are wrapping up orientation week, can meet some of their peers who have conducted research or other scholarly activity,\u201d said Kari Nelson, PhD, director of undergraduate medical education research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to ensure that all of our students know they have the opportunity to do this work during their training. Through this event, the incoming medical students can see what is possible and some of the research opportunities that are available.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
