Park Omaha opened its newest parking garage, in the EDGE District, with a ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr. and UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, attended, along with neighborhood business owners, developers and Park Omaha staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EDGE District is a multi-use UNMC development anchored by the Catalyst Building. <\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cWe are excited to be partnering with the city, Koelbel & Co., and GreenSlate Development in cutting the ribbon on the EDGE Garage, the latest addition to the EDGE District,\u201d Dr. Davies said. \u201cAs this exciting, multi-use district continues to grow and bring new businesses to Omaha, this garage \u2013 and our partnership with the City of Omaha \u2013 will help make the EDGE District a vibrant destination for workers, shoppers and neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Ewing said UNMC, which owns the land where the new parking garage in located, is an engine for economic growth in the Omaha community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA garage means cars. Cars mean people. People mean jobs,\u201d Mayor Ewing said. \u201cAnd that’s what this is really about, being able to create environments where we can create jobs for the people of this community. Jobs mean growth for the city of Omaha. As you can see, this is more than a garage. It’s a symbol of the city’s investment in Omaha and investment in Omaha’s urban core.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located at 4605 Farnam St., the city-owned garage will provide 753 parking stalls, including four electric vehicle charging stations. The seven-level parking garage is bordered by 48th Street to the west and 46th Street to the east, with Farnam Street located to the north and Leavenworth Street to the south. There are garage entrances on the north and south sides of the parking structure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EDGE District serves as an ideal environment for forward-thinking organizations and entrepreneurs, facilitating collaboration with UNMC’s academic, clinical, research and commercialization teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The district’s real estate offerings span multiple facilities, each with different amenities, capabilities and equipment tailored to meet the unique needs of businesses, ranging from startups to established enterprises. Flexible leasing options, including coworking desk memberships and long-term leases for private wet lab and custom office suites, cater to diverse organizational requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe garage is open for daily parking, and the parking rate is $1 an hour with a maximum daily rate of $10.
