New Investigator<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

New Investigator Awards go to outstanding UNMC scientists who in the past two years have secured their first funding from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Defense or other national sources. New investigators also must demonstrate scholarly activity such as publishing their research and\/or presenting their findings at national conventions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Sleep disordered breathing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Why is research important in the world today?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Research is important in the world today because it helps solve global challenges, drives innovation and improves quality of life. It leads to breakthroughs in medicine, advances technology and reduces morbidity and mortality. Health research helps us understand complex issues such chronic disease management, the availability of public health resources and barriers to care. By advancing knowledge and offering evidence-based solutions, research plays a vital role in building a smarter, healthier and more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    My research will make a difference because:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    My research in sleep disordered breathing will make a difference because it addresses a critical yet often overlooked health issue that affects millions worldwide. By improving early detection, diagnosis and treatment strategies, this research can enhance quality of life, reduce the risk of related conditions such as heart disease and stroke, and lower health care costs. It also aims to raise awareness and promote better sleep health through evidence-based interventions. Ultimately, this work contributes to advancing medical knowledge, supporting patients and empowering health care providers with the tools they need to deliver more effective, personalized care for those suffering from sleep-related disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Three things you may not know about me are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • I\u2019m an avid weightlifter with a passion for movement and exercise. I make it a priority to move my body every day and especially enjoy lifting heavy weights, which challenges me both physically and mentally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Cooking is one of my favorite hobbies, but doing the dishes? Not so much. I\u2019ll clean up because I like a tidy kitchen, but trust me, I\u2019m grumbling in my head the entire time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • I love to travel and experience new things. Having spontaneity in my life energizes me and keeps my mind engaged and inspired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
