It expands our knowledge while allowing us to make informed decisions, based upon best evidence, in the treatment of sickness and disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My research will make a difference because:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus of my research program is to optimize pharmacotherapy for people living with HIV to bring about superior health outcomes. I am particularly interested in the treatment of individuals coinfected with HIV and tuberculosis. The research our team at the antiviral pharmacology laboratory has both directed and participated in has greatly simplified the concurrent management and treatment of both diseases. Our team has played a pivotal role in the roleout of shorter course treatment regimens for TB in people living with HIV where globally more than a million individuals annually need co-treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The best advice I\u2019ve ever received is:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three things you may not know about me are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I have three children, Adelyn (15 years), Jack (13 years) and Beau (9 years), and have coached basketball for each of the last eight years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I direct the UNMC Mentored Scholars Program, a program directed at developing junior faculty into productive and independent clinical and translational researchers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My wife and I were born in the same hospital two days apart. We likely spent time in the nursery together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" style=\"display: none;\" title=\"mQaD  R UiaW N  HGVmuWrYd RSZu
