Fundamental discovery science is necessary for developing future novel therapies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My research will make a difference because:<br><\/strong>Obesity and the excessive accumulation of lipids is a central driver of most chronic diseases. Our laboratory investigates one of the most important organs in lipid metabolism and trafficking \u2013 the human liver \u2013 with the hope that our discovery-based science will translate to better therapies against metabolic-associated diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The best advice I\u2019ve ever received is:<\/strong><br>Love your neighbor as yourself; do to others as you would have them do to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three things you may not know about me are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I grew up in a small town in North Dakota.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There were 19 students in my high school graduating class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I met my future wife Kim in 8th\u00a0grade and journaled that I wanted to marry her
