The UNMC Healing Arts Program will host an exhibition talk and gallery reception with Kiechel Fine Art gallery director and owner Buck Kiechel to highlight the artists featured in the exhibition \u201cRegionalism Revisited\u201d at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition talk will be held from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Gail and Mike Yanney Conference Center on the ground floor of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. The gallery viewing and a reception will follow in the main dining room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegionalism Revisited\u201d explores the enduring legacy of American Regionalism through a dialogue between its foundational figures and contemporary Midwestern artists. The exhibition brings together works by Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry, Grant Wood, Dale Nichols, Aaron Pyle,and Roger Medearis \u2014 artists who, in the early to mid-20th century, sought to capture the spirit of rural life, the dignity of labor and the rhythms of the American heartland during a time of great cultural and economic change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decades later, that same impulse to reflect the character and complexities of the Midwest lives on in the work of such contemporary artists as Keith Jacobshagen, Aaron Holz, Hal Holoun, Jenny Kruger and Dan Howard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBuck Kiechel will talk about the significance and uniqueness of American Regionalism,\u201d said Colleen Heavican Cass, Healing Arts Curator. \u201cHe will invite guests to consider how the themes of past generations \u2014 work, land, community and memory \u2014 continue to evolve and resonate in the hands of artists today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegionalism Revisited\u201d is on view during regular visiting hours, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., through Jan. 9, 2026. Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
