{"id":127571,"date":"2025-11-11T01:56:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T07:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=127571"},"modified":"2025-11-10T10:32:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T16:32:12","slug":"celebration-of-life-services-set-for-dickmeyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/11\/11\/celebration-of-life-services-set-for-dickmeyer\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebration of life services set for Dickmeyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>A celebration of life service for Don Dickmeyer, who retired in 2017 after 45 years at UNMC, will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 17007 Q St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dickmeyer, 80, died on Nov. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An architect, Dickmeyer started as a design drafter, served as a project coordinator and retired as a project manager. In addition to countless design drafting projects, Dickmeyer worked on projects that included the UNMC ice rink, Parking Lot 50, numerous sidewalk and street repair and construction projects, and traffic speed tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a 2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2013\/03\/11\/don-dickmeyer-proud-to-play-a-part\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"fundraising campaign, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fundraising campaign<\/a> for the Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, he remembered his late wife, Pat, who died of colon cancer after working for UNMC for 31 years. In a 2012 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2012\/03\/15\/lookin-at-u-don-dickmeyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Lookin\u2019 at U feature, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lookin\u2019 at U feature<\/a>, Dickmeyer said he\u2019d most remember his facilities colleagues at UNMC and talked about his time as a youth coach.\u00a0The Dickmeyers actively supported and led many athletic programs, including growing the Millard Athletic Association baseball program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to Patricia, Don Dickmeyer was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Graver. He is survived by his daughter, Cheri Reddick; his sons, Mike (Heidi) Dickmeyer and Jerry Dickmeyer; his grandchildren, Lauren &amp; Olivia Reddick, Michael, Kenzie, Kaitlyn, Haley and Zach Dickmeyer; and his brothers, Ron (Carol) Dickmeyer, Steve (Jo) Dickmeyer, and sister, Vicky Shurtleff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nufoundation.org\/?s=Dickmeyer\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Pat Dickmeyer Memorial Scholarship Fund, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pat Dickmeyer Memorial Scholarship Fund<\/a>, an endowment that was exceptionally meaningful to Don, at the University of Nebraska Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
