Universities across the Big Ten Conference compete to see which institution can log the most blood donations. The University of Nebraska is the 2024 inaugural winner and reigning champion. The winning university receives\u00a0$1 million\u00a0to support student health initiatives.<br><br>This year, Nebraska is running close with Wisconsin \u2013 and with the help of donors, the team can again win the top spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how donors can help:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Donate at Tuesday&#8217;s blood drive, which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lied Transplant Center, 4350 Emile St.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log the donation to count toward NU\u2019s total. Donors can log at\u00a0<a aria-label=\"the We Give Blood campaign website, opens in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/bigten.org\/abbott\/nebraska\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the We Give Blood campaign website<\/a>\u00a0or by texting\u00a0DONATE\u00a0to\u00a0222688 (ABBOTT).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the competition\u2019s close on Dec. 5, donations made during blood drives on campus \u2013 or any blood donation site \u2013 can count toward the University of Nebraska\u2019s total in this year\u2019s competition. Last year, NU topped the Big Ten with more than 4,500 donations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nebraska Community Blood Bank&#8217;s bloodmobile will be
