You won\u2019t believe your “ice” at the events that UNMC community partners are offering this holiday season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Durham Museum<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s time to break the ice on a highly interactive exploration of the history and innovation of the \u201ccoolest\u201d sport in the world. \u201cHOCKEY: Faster Than Ever\u201d takes you inside the game like never before, revealing the science and technology fueling every heart-pounding moment. This exhibition shows how science drives hockey\u2019s speed, power and precision, from the first skates to today\u2019s high-tech gear. With hands-on challenges, dynamic displays and STEAM-powered activities, fans of all ages will discover the engineering behind the action \u2014 and the history that shaped the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Embark on hockey\u2019s rich history through the evolution of skates and equipment from the 19th and 20th centuries. Hockey and memorabilia fans are sure to enjoy a locker room outfitted with jerseys of the NHL star players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Durham Museum provides free museum admission for UNMC faculty, staff, students and their immediate family with a valid identification badge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fontenelle Forest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventurous night owls looking to explore new trails can visit Fontenelle Forest for an opportunity to see the forest at night, learn about nocturnal creatures who call the forest home, all while exploring the forest trails. This hike is geared toward intermediate to experienced hikers and will traverse at least two miles of moderate to difficult terrain.
