Join the UNMC community for Keep Calm and Cook On 4, an interactive cooking experience designed to support wellness \u2014 one plate at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sessions offer participants a chance to sharpen their culinary skills, learn practical nutrition tips and recharge during the workday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted by Steven Wengel, MD, assistant vice chancellor for wellness at UNMC, and Doug Chrisman, culinary arts instructor at Metropolitan Community College, these engaging, live cooking demonstrations combine approachable recipes, expert instruction and evidence-based nutrition guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each 90-minute session includes step-by-step cooking instructions with nutritional highlights from Mariah Jackson, PhD, assistant professor of medical nutrition at UNMC, along with real-time questions and answers so participants can be involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI remember learning a new word at a lifestyle medicine conference I once attended \u2013 \u2018craveable,\u2019\u201d Dr. Wengel said. \u201cIf you are looking for nutritious \u2013 and craveable \u2013 recipes for yourself and those close to you, look no further. Chef Chrisman and Dr. Jackson have again teamed up to give us enjoyable ways to improve our health through home cooking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Said Dr. Jackson, \u201cKnowing the nutrition facts is just the first step of making a healthy change. Combining it with cooking skills helps turn information into everyday confidence in the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen people learn how to cook nourishing meals, they gain the confidence to turn nutrition knowledge into lifelong habits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sessions are held virtually via Zoom. A limited number of in-person spots are also available; be sure to register for the correct session if planning to attend on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note: UNMC will share the names of registered participants with Metropolitan Community College for auditing purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
