UNMC is announcing that, beginning in April 2026, Barnes & Noble College will assume management of retail and online operations and all course materials for the UNMC Bookstore and the UNMC C-store in the Sorrell Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the new partnership, Barnes & Noble College also will manage the Maverick Bookstore at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal in transitioning management was to select a partner that would improve access and affordability, enhance the user experience and create a vibrant hub for the UNMC and UNO communities, said Susan Kraft Mann, UNMC\u2019s associate vice chancellor for business and finance and director of budget and fiscal analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barnes & Noble College immediately stood out for its understanding of the unique needs of university communities and its ability to successfully meet the campuses\u2019 needs \u2014 now and in the future, Kraft Mann said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently operating more than 1,160 physical and virtual campus bookstores across the U.S., Barnes & Noble College brings extensive experience and a national reputation for excellence, Kraft Mann said. The partnership will enhance UNMC\u2019s bookstore experience and provide expanded support for students, faculty and staff, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a refreshed look, the UNMC Bookstore will offer an expanded selection of apparel, gifts, supplies and more \u2014 available in store and online. The new experience will be focused on delivering exceptional service to the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can expect access to one of the industry\u2019s largest selections of affordable physical and digital course materials, a price-match program and flexible options for ordering and delivery, including in-store pickup and shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty will have access to use of the innovative Adoption & Insights Portal, a market-leading tool that simplifies the research and selection of course materials while promoting affordability and student success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
