Center of Nebraska, and Melissa Tibbits, PhD, BHECN associate director for research and evaluation, recently discussed the Licensed Behavioral Health Workforce Report 2025 on <a href=\"https:\/\/creators.spotify.com\/pod\/profile\/behavioral-health-matters\/episodes\/Licensed-Behavioral-health-Workforce-Report-2025-e3ecari\/a-acen5cv\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"the latest episode of the Behavioral Health Matters podcast, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the latest episode of the Behavioral Health Matters podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The podcast is hosted by the Nebraska Association of Behavioral Health Organizations and its executive director, Nicki Behmer Popp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A main goal of the report is to provide data that helps BHECN, policymakers, educators and other stakeholders craft workforce solutions that meet the state\u2019s behavioral health needs, Dr. Doyle said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEveryone knows there are workforce shortages,\u201d she said. \u201cIf you don\u2019t know the number, you don\u2019t know the scope and you don\u2019t know the trend, it makes it very difficult for you to figure out where you can have the highest impact as far as intervention goes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/bhecn\/research-data-policy\/data-snapshots.html\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/bhecn\/research-data-policy\/data-snapshots.html\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"report, which can be viewed here, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report, which can be viewed here<\/a>, helps provide those important details in order to better target workforce solutions, Dr. Tibbits said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving forward, she said, the report will be updated and enhanced to help stakeholders continually improve and adapt their workforce development strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As established by the legislative statute that created BHECN in 2009, the organization is charged with compiling and reporting data on Nebraska\u2019s behavioral health workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New to this year\u2019s report are data snapshots that examine the workforce from multiple perspectives, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Statewide distribution of the workforce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distribution across the state\u2019s six behavioral health regions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Workforce composition by provider type.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a stakeholder in the state\u2019s behavioral health workforce discussion, Behmer Popp lauded BHECN for its work on compiling the data and crafting the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cData is one of those things I don\u2019t think people realize how important it is unless you don\u2019t have it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not easy to get accurate information.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
