The Munroe-Meyer Institute\u2019s Amy Volkman will present \u201cFiber \u2013 Why We Need Our Short (Chain Fatty Acid) Kings!\u201d on Tuesday, March 10, at noon through Zoom. This webinar is part of the Olson Center for Women\u2019s Health and UNMC College of Nursing webinar series.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volkman is a registered dietitian nutritionist in the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute Pediatric Feeding Disorders Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This presentation will explain how dietary fiber supports cardiovascular health and aids digestion. It also will describe the role of short-chain fatty acids in energy production, gut health and metabolic processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volkman will identify common foods that are rich in fiber and analyze how eating a variety of plant-based foods promotes optimal gut function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
