The award recognizes excellence in interprofessional education and contributions to its advancement locally, regionally or nationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Name:<\/strong> Alfred Fisher, MD, PhD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Title:<\/strong> Professor and chief, division of geriatrics, gerontology and palliative medicine, UNMC College of Medicine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Joined UNMC:<\/strong> July 2018<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hometown: <\/strong>Los Angeles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You are the recipient of the Interprofessional Education Scholar Award.\u00a0Why is interprofessional education important in today&#8217;s health care fields?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In both the clinical and research arenas, the best results come from the efforts of teams with complementary skills and experience. Being a member of these teams is not an accident but is due to a set of learnable skills. \u00a0<br><br><strong>Describe your proudest moment as an educator.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am always most excited to see a learner leave the nest and go out into the world.<br><br><strong>What advice would you give\u00a0other faculty members who want to have an impact in\u00a0education?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflect upon teachers who have impacted you during your training \u2013 how did they create a successful learning environment and how did they connect with you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you have a favorite quote or philosophy on teaching?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ability of learners to benefit from intermittently watching faculty is underestimated. Some of the most impactful experiences from medical school for me were from watching specific faculty interviewing or examining patients.<\/p>\n<div style=\"display: none;\"><a rel=\"nofollow\"
