UNMC and Nebraska Medicine will host the 2026 Unsung Hero Awards luncheon on Friday, March 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Truhlsen Event Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Unsung Hero Awards recognize individuals whose dedication, service and commitment often occur behind the scenes but make a meaningful impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awards are presented across several categories recognizing staff, faculty and students whose dedication to service, mentorship, leadership and community engagement strengthens both campus and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the awards will be celebrated as a standalone luncheon, offering a dedicated opportunity to recognize those who embody the spirit of service through volunteerism, mentorship, outreach, encouragement and leadership in their workplace or community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will feature keynote speaker Judith Hill, executive director of the North Omaha Collective. Hill leads a community-based nonprofit focused on advancing healing-centered engagement through training, outreach and collaborative partnerships. Her work supports culturally responsive practices that strengthen relationships among youth, families, institutions and community organizations while fostering resilience and long-term well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The luncheon is open to faculty, staff, students and community members.
