Sara Putnam, MD, an assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, will present \u201cBeyond Hot Flashes: Understanding How Menopause Affects Your Joints\u201d at the next Olson Center Brown Bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many different symptoms can accompany the menopause period in a woman\u2019s life. Hot flashes, physical changes and brain fog are common symptoms. But menopause also can bring on musculoskeletal symptoms, such as joint pain, stiffness and decreased function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Putnam will discuss practical lifestyle strategies to reduce joint pain and current evidence on the role of hormone replacement therapy in managing these symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This virtual event is on Tuesday, March 17, from noon to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Olson Center for Women\u2019s Health. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team. The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this activity for 1.0 ANCC contact hour. Nurses should only claim credit for the actual time spent participating in the activity.
