The UNMC Global Center for Health Security will host award-winning journalist Jason Gale, the author of \u201cAfter Covid: The Health Impacts That Will Last Generations,\u201d for a discussion on the Omaha campus Wednesday, March 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gale, a veteran of more than 25 years at Bloomberg News who serves as senior editor, focuses on infectious diseases and global health issues after first covering medical science with the 2005 H5N1 avian influenza outbreak. \u201cAfter Covid\u201d is his first book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gale will give a presentation titled \u201cPandemic Aftermath: System Fragility and the Next Health Security Threat.\u201d It will be held in Williams Science Hall, Room 1.0.009, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The event is open to the med center community; no registration is required. He will examine how issues such as long-term morbidity, disrupted care, workforce attrition and declining trust are reshaping preparedness, and why those aftershocks may define the next crisis more than the pathogen itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following Gale\u2019s presentation, a panel discussion involving UNMC health security experts will delve into the issues he raises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
