The UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research will host a Research Town Hall<\/a> today (March 25) to introduce researchers to Michael Hasselberg, PhD, who joined UNMC and Nebraska Medicine last September to serve as chief transformation and digital officer<\/a> for the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Hasselberg comes with an academic background, as a professor of psychiatry, clinical nursing and data science. He previously served as the chief digital health officer at the University of Rochester Medical Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ken Bayles, PhD, the UNMC vice chancellor for research, said researchers and their teams are encouraged to attend the town hall to hear about a new era for IT support of research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re our partners in this,\u201d Dr. Bayles said. \u201cThey\u2019re there to help in the ever-changing regulatory environment and a time of increasing cybersecurity threats, under an evolving funding landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s town hall will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Durham Research Center I in the DRC auditorium, Room 1002. The meeting will be available via Zoom webinar through the link on this campus event listing.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Hasselberg will share updates and his vision for IT and research at UNMC. A panel of research leaders also will be available for Q&A and general updates. The panel will be moderated by Howard Fox, MD, PhD, senior associate dean of research and development in the UNMC College of Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
