{"id":131095,"date":"2026-04-08T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=131095"},"modified":"2026-04-07T10:40:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T15:40:21","slug":"latest-u-s-news-rankings-place-unmc-among-the-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/04\/08\/latest-u-s-news-rankings-place-unmc-among-the-best\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest U.S. News rankings place UNMC among the best"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>UNMC\u2019s graduate and professional schools are among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News &amp; World Report\u2019s 2026 \u201cBest Graduate Schools\u201d guide, released Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of four evaluative tiers, UNMC\u2019s College of Medicine moved up to Tier 1 in primary care training and retained its Tier 2 ranking in research. UNMC ranked 17th for most graduates practicing in rural areas and tied for 53rd\u00a0for most graduates practicing in primary care, up from 67 last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese rankings are a testament to UNMC\u2019s focus on delivering high\u2011quality learning experiences, while also conducting ground-breaking research,\u201d said UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD. \u201cOur mission to serve Nebraskans, solve the pressing health care problems of our times and prepare the state\u2019s health care workforce guides all that we do, and it\u2019s gratifying to see that work recognized.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the following UNMC programs were ranked in this year\u2019s guide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Physician assistant program is tied at No. 14.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pharmacy is ranked at No. 16.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physical therapy is ranked No. 31.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public health is tied at No. 49.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Doctor of Nursing Practice is tied at No. 68.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occupational therapy is tied at No. 51.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biostatistics is tied at No. 63.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school\u2019s faculty, research, students and post-graduate outcomes for them.
