The award is given as part of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an honor for us to go around the state every March and recognize the advocacy and accomplishments in the field of developmental disabilities,\u201d said Tony Green, director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominator Samanthan Bryan praised Brown\u2019s compassion, skill and authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are a fierce advocate for clients and consistently take the time to understand the root of distress rather than reacting impulsively,\u201d Brown wrote. \u201cMarley\u2019s thoughtful, trauma-informed approach ensures clients feel understood, safe and respected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown started as an intern in the MMI Department of Specialized Behavior Intervention in 2017. They fell \u201chead over heels in love\u201d with the work, people and clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Receiving the award is an honor, Brown said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are countless hands that have lifted me through my career, and through this achievement,\u201d they said. \u201cI hope they feel seen, too. I would not be the person or provider I am without them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nomination went on to highlight Brown\u2019s attention to detail and their ability to bring insight to complex cases as well as building genuine rapport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMarley enriches every team and every life they touch. Their combination of intelligence, creativity, integrity and heart makes them profoundly deserving of recognition,\u201d Brown
