The EDGE District<\/a> is more than a development project. It is a growing innovation platform adjacent to UNMC and Nebraska Medicine that is helping researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and industry partners translate ideas into real-world impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is the message behind a new campaign highlighting the innovators, organizations and partnerships already helping shape the district\u2019s growing momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cEDGE in Action: From Projections to Practice\u201d campaign highlights how the EDGE District is springing to life through innovation, entrepreneurship, commercialization and strategic partnerships. The campaign will be shared through UNMC Today, the EDGE District website<\/a>, the district\u2019s LinkedIn<\/a> page, related digital storytelling efforts and media outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe EDGE District is moving from vision to visible momentum,\u201d said Amy Thompson, director of campus development with UNMC Facilities Management and Planning. \u201cPhase I development projects – including Catalyst, the district parking garage and CORE – established the physical foundation for the district. Now we are seeing innovators, startups, researchers and strategic partners actively building within the ecosystem and helping shape what the future of health innovation can look like in Omaha.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featured stories highlight the EDGE District\u2019s people and organizations advancing diagnostics, digital health technologies, medical devices, clinical innovation, data analytics and strategic partnerships. Many of those innovators and experts have direct ties to UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, these stories demonstrate how the EDGE District already is helping attract talent, support startup growth, strengthen industry collaboration and generate economic momentum for the region, Thompson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also reflect the district\u2019s long-term vision of becoming a nationally recognized platform for health-focused innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That vision is reflected in the district\u2019s projected economic impact. According to a recent analysis by Tripp Umbach, the EDGE District is projected to generate approximately $1.385 billion in total economic impact annually by 2040, supporting thousands of jobs while driving startup formation, commercialization activity and regional business growth. The analysis also projects that as many as 41 startup companies could emerge from the district\u2019s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem offerings by 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
