Dele Davies, MD, said the search committee will identify the best leader within the University of Nebraska system to advance the UNMC Graduate Studies mission and vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interested parties can find <a href=\"https:\/\/unmc.peopleadmin.com\/postings\/99380\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/unmc.peopleadmin.com\/postings\/99380\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"the job description here., opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the job description here.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The search committee, led by Ken Bayles, PhD, UNMC\u2019s vice chancellor for research, will advise the UNMC Office of the Chancellor on potential candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Historically, the dean of graduate studies\u2019 responsibilities have been part of the vice chancellor for academic affairs\u2019 role.&nbsp;With this search, they will be established as a separate position and provide leadership for graduate student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, retention, degree completion, student support services and professional development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUNMC Graduate Studies has experienced significant growth over the past decade, and having a dedicated dean ensures continued attention to not only the needs of the students, but also the faculty and staff who support them,\u201d Dr. Davies said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With more than 700 students, UNMC Graduate Studies offers advanced instruction leading to Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in fields ranging from basic biomedical sciences to public health to patient-oriented research.
